Melons, Doctors, Diapers and Love

Wallace loves to stand!

Today I took these pictures of Wallace with our GIANT Moon and Stars watermelon. We had so much fun. He was standing and falling over and trying to crawl over the melon. This fun melon has pink flesh and the leaves have the same wild yellow spots on them as the fruit.

We went to see his new Pediatrician and I am so relieved. I love her! She was a home birth midwife for ten years and she and I have the same ideas and ideals on parenting. She encouraged me to stay on my own path and reassured me that my boy is fantastic and my intuition is right on. He weighed in at 15 pounds 3 ounces. The best part: she does family practice and women's health. I filled out the paperwork to have her as my primary care Dr.

Today I was laying in bed playing with Wallace. I was kissing his face and making him laugh. We were smiling and looking at each other and making each other laugh when I had a very profound and honest realization: This is how much my mother loves me! This huge heavy blanket of love I am so blessed to be wrapped in is the same kind my mother has.

thats a good lookin' hand

I want to talk about my decision to cloth diaper my baby.  Disposable diapers make up over 30% of the worlds landfill. That is far far to much! Dylan and I decided on cloth diapers because we want Wallace to have as small a footprint as possible. I want him to be able to burn cans and styrofoam like all the other kids ;) Having us as parents he probably wont actively hurt earth, but none the less. I also use cloth because they are much more personal: These are his diapers. I chose to use bum genius diapers because of how easy they are to use! Check out Nicki's Diapers to see all the amazing options.
